Amazon.ca and Amazon.com: what is different for brands
Amazon.ca is its own store. Here is what that means for a brand that already sells on Amazon.com.
A separate store
Amazon.ca has its own product listings, prices in Canadian dollars, customer reviews and fulfilment stock. Selling well on Amazon.com does not mean a product is available, or priced well, on Amazon.ca.
Amazon offers a North America unified account, so one seller can list in the United States, Canada and Mexico, but stock held in US fulfilment centres is separate from stock in Canada.
Different fees and rules
Amazon.ca publishes its own referral and fulfilment fees in Canadian dollars. Products sold in Canada also need to meet Canadian labelling and safety rules, including bilingual English and French labels for most packaged consumer goods.
Ways to reach Canadian shoppers
- Manage Amazon.ca yourself, with stock sent to Canadian fulfilment centres.
- Use Remote Fulfillment to offer US stock to Canadian customers.
- Work with an authorized Canadian reseller that buys from you at wholesale and manages stock in Canada.
Which fits
Brands with a team for Canada often manage Amazon.ca directly. Brands that prefer one wholesale customer, with Canadian labelling, tax and stock handled locally, often work with an authorized reseller.
